butyronitrile X type rubber sealing rings
X-type nitrile seals (commonly known as star seals) are widely employed sealing components in industrial applications, characterised by the following features and uses: Structural Design: The X-type seal incorporates a quadruple-lip configuration resembling an ‘X’, featuring several additional raised edges beyond standard O-rings. This structure creates lubrication chambers between the sealing lips, reducing friction resistance and start-up forces while enhancing sealing efficacy. Sealing Performance: Owing to its dual sealing function, the X-ring demonstrates superior performance under complex operating conditions such as high-speed rotation, high pressure, and reciprocating motion, typically outperforming standard O-rings. Its parting line is positioned between the protruding angles, distant from the sealing surface, thereby preventing leakage issues caused by irregularities in the parting line. Temperature and Pressure Resistance: Nitrile rubber (NBR) X-type seals generally operate within a temperature range of -40 to 120°C. Their unique design confers superior pressure resistance compared to O-rings of the same material; certain high-performance variants maintain stable sealing even under pressures as high as 60 MPa. Material Properties: Nitrile rubber (NBR) exhibits resistance to oil, abrasion, water, and dust. It is suitable for petroleum-based hydraulic fluids, glycol-based hydraulic fluids, petrol, and water, but is incompatible with polar solvents such as ketones, ozone, and nitro hydrocarbons. Applications Hydraulic systems: Frequently employed in pistons, valve bodies, and cylinders, suitable for high-pressure and wide-temperature-range conditions, effectively minimising fluid leakage. Pneumatic equipment: Performs well in automated systems requiring high airtightness, preventing air leakage. Automotive Industry: Employed in hydraulic braking systems and steering mechanisms, its oil resistance, pressure tolerance, and wear resistance align perfectly with these operational demands. Other Applications: Widely applicable across construction, engineering, machinery, doors/windows, cabinets, electrical appliances, and more.
